• History
New York State Teacher Centers, were established in 1984 by EdLaw 316, to facilitate teacher-driven professional development based on local needs, research, data, and best practices. We encourage teacher leadership, facilitate growth of professional learning communities, collaborate with other professional development providers and model life-long learning for educators and students in order to promote increased student learning.
Teacher Centers were funded by state and federal grants until July 1, 2010. Since that time, many Centers have closed or reduced services. The WNY Teacher Center has been able to remain fully active due to the support of Erie 1 BOCES and the collection of minimal fees from participants of professional development offerings. We are thankful for this support which exemplifies your strong dedication to continuous growth and learning.
