DESCRIPTION: This course provides the 3rd credit of mathematics in the Regents sequence. The purpose of this course is to apply the concepts learned in high school mathematics to real world situations. This course will be integrated with your Career and Technical course. It will meet two days a week (Monday and Wednesday at Potter or Tuesday and Thursday at Kenton ), for 45-50 minutes. There will be an in-class activity every class day, a weekly homework assignment, and a awrap up assignment each week.

EXPECTATIONS: In order to get full credit and pass this course you will:

    1. Be on time to class since there is no bell or changing of class within the day. You will be informed as to your class time the second week of September.

    2. Attend class twice a week as assigned. Because this is an activity-based course, attendance is imperative. Excessive absences or tardies may result in denial of credit for the course.

    3. Follow the rules and regulations as stated in the Student Handbook.

4.. Come prepared with a writing utensil.

5.. Keep up to date on your notebook, homework, and/or any missing assignments.

6.. Keep your folder/binder in an organized and neat manner.

7.. Be responsible for a borrowed graphing calculator.

GRADING: A separate math grade will appear on your report card. The grades will include:

    1. In class activities – 40%

    2. Weekly homework assignments- 20%

    3. Weekly Wrap up assignments- 15%

    4. Three quarterly tests and final- 20%

    5. Notebook check- 5%

ABSENCES: You are required to be here on time. Since we are meeting only two days per week, absences will affect your chance of passing this course. If you are absent you are required to make up work. The assignment will be available at my office door. You are to complete the make up assignment and return to the teacher next math class or it will be counted as a zero.

If you are absent  and you missed work, you will make it up the day you come back.

I have read and fully understand what is expected of me. Any questions I may have can be referred back to this syllabus.
