As a Reading Specialist, I assume multiple roles in the reading program particularly in the areas of assessment and instruction. I work closely with content area teachers to assist in better understanding of students' individual and varying reading needs.Therefore, I have created a balanced reading program that consists of the diagnosis & prescription for determining grade level performance. This information is then shared with content-area teaching staff so accommodations can be made to meet varying needs of classes. In addition, I also provide whole-group instruction that focuses on essential literacy skills such as vocabulary development, and increasing comprehension while learning about issues that are essential for living a good life in the real world.
