    Point Sheets

At the beginning of the year the students, parents/guardians, and teacher will all sign a contract for point sheets. This contracts state that the parent WILL sign the point sheet DAILY. This is to keep the lines of communication between parent/guardian and teacher open. It is the job of the student to take home the point sheet and get it signed. If the point sheet is not signed, points on the next day will be taken off and the student WILL HAVE to get the previous point sheet signed also.

The point sheets will be a class by class account on how your child is doing both behaviorally and academically. Students will self reflect at the end of each day to recount how they did in each subject including lunch, breakfast, specials, walking in the halls, and other core subjects.

    Curriculum

Mr. Szpylman's classroom follows the common core learning standards set up for 2nd and 3rd graders. The common core standards are clearly defined along with their preformance indicators (click here).

    Grading

Willow Ridge Elementary grades in a four quarter format.  Each quarter will roughly run 10 weeks.  The special areas (music, art, & computers) run the same way.  Each student will receive physical education twice a week and either music, art, and computers once a week.  Each special area WILL count towards the final grade of each student.  The specials will run on a 5 day schedule starting with Wednesday, September 3rd, being day one and progress through out the year.
