The Cisco Networking Academy program is a complete, Eight-module program that focuses on the principles and practice of designing, building and maintaining networks capable of supporting national and global organizations in every industry. This program focuses on the skills needed to design and implement Internet connectivity, Wide Area Networks (WANs) and Local Area Networks (LANs).
The Cisco Networking Academy program is adapted to individual needs of secondary students, and features hands-on, project-based training in high-demand job skills. The curriculum is well aligned with the National Science Education Standards, The American Association for the Advancement of Science Project 2061 Benchmarks, and The Dartmouth Engineering Problem-Solving Methodology.
The classroom portion of the curriculum contains eight 70-hour blocks of study for a total of 560 hours. This allows ample time for additional hands-on activities, internship opportunities and certification preparation.
This program uses the official Cisco Networking Academy curriculum to prepare students for the Cisco CCNA exam by teaching concepts in network design and configuration, the internet, and routing and switching programming and configuration.
Each student in the class has their own state of the art computer and all hardware used in this class conforms directly to the curriculum.
Students will use a combination of books, internet, lecture, and hands-on labs to complete this course and learn the content.
The Cisco course is intended for students that are good in math, are problem-solvers, have mechanical ability, and like to work in "hands-on" situations. A background in computers, preferably A+ certification, although not required, is also recommended to facilitate successful completion of this course.
Topics covered in the course include:
    • LAN Design
    •  OSI Model
    •  Electrical concepts
    •  Network Architecture
    •  Router configuration
    •  IP Addressing
    •  Cabling
    •  Network design and management
While job titles vary at different employers, students completing the Cisco curriculum with passing grades could qualify for entry level positions in :
    • Computer sales
    • Customer service
    • Networking support tech
    • LAN Administrator
    • WAN Administrator
    • Hardware/Telecom Field Support Tech
    • Wiring and Cable Installation Tech
This list is just an example of some job titles available.
Entry level wages will vary depending on type of position and experience, but a person with their CCNA certification can expect to earn between $23K and $40K
