State Leadership Conference & Competition
April 25 – 27, members of Kenton, Harkness and Potter's SkillsUSA leadership clubs traveled to Syracuse, NY to participate in the annual State Leadership Conference and Competition. Students competed in their fields and leadership contests against other career and tech students from all across New York State. While the trip is all about the experience and exposure for our students, this was a very good year for Kenton: three of our students excelled and were rewarded with a trip to the winners circle. Jennifer Renner, KW, won first place in Job Demonstration A. Ashley Gangi, SH, won second place in Pre-School Teaching Assistant. Lenny Fike, GI, won third place in Automotive Refinishing Technology. With her first place win, Jennifer will travel to Kansas City, MO in the end of June to compete at nationals!
The trip was a success for reasons beyond the three medals won. All students did an outstanding job representing themselves and our school. They worked hard while competing and made the most of the opportunity to meet new people and grow – exactly what SkillsUSA is all about!
