Algebra A1A is a course designed to teach the first half of the New York State Algebra curriculum. The second half of the curriculum will be taught next year in Algebra A1B. The goal of Algebra A1A is to lay the foundations of Algebra to ensure students' success on the New York State Algebra Regents Exam and to prepare students for entrance level college math courses.
During Algebra A1A students will be introduced to a variety of topics including set theory, equations and inequalities, ratios, proportion, percents, and problem solving. Students will participate in a variety of activities to help enhance the learning process. Participation points will be earned daily, classwork assignments will be given a minimum of three days per week and a unit test will follow each unit. Unit tests will be given approximately every three weeks.
The classroom rules are as follows:
1. Be on time. 2. Be prepared with a notebook, writing utensil and and required assignments. 3. Listen when the teacher is speaking. 4. All electronics OFF during note time.
