•                                                   Live Work Policy

     

     

     

    Junior Class:

    1.  All students are expected to participate in shop activities. 

    2.  These activities will be performed on demo units, simulator units and Harkness owned vehicles.

    3. All students will strictly adhere to Harkness’ shop safety policies.Junior students will only be allowed to perform work on their own vehicles:

      1. Under extenuating circumstances.
      2. When the student’s teacher and an administrator (principal, assistant principle) have agreed that extenuating circumstances have been met.
      3. The junior student has met all of the guidelines set for senior students.

     

    Senior Class:

    1. All students are expected to participate in shop activities.
    2. These activities will be performed on demo units, simulator units, Harkness owned vehicles and live work.
    3. All students will strictly adhere to Harkness’ shop safety policies.
    4. There will be a maximum of two student vehicles per class per day.
    5. Senior students will only be allowed to perform work on their own vehicles if:
      1. The student’s cumulative grade is 75% or higher.
      2. The student has no more that fifteen unexcused absences for the year.
      3. The student has had no more than three unexcused absences in the prior five weeks.
      4. All of the student’s classroom work has been completed.
      5. The student was not tardy that day.
      6. The work to be performed is covered by Harkness’ curriculum.
      7. The student had signed the waiting list at least one day prior to the scheduled shop day.
      8. The student can produce sufficient proof of registration and insurance.
      9. The “Vehicle Liability Waiver Form” has been completed and signed by a teacher and administrator.
