- General Guidelines for Physical Education

NYS states that Physical Education is a required subject for all students in K - 12.There are three learning standards for Physical Education.
1. Personal Health and Fitness - students will be exposed to a variety of skills that will help them maintain a health level of fitness throughout their life.
2. Students will have a safe and healthy environment to participate in - students will learn how to create and maintain a safe,healthy environment.
3. Resource Management - students will learn to understand their community resources and their personal fitness needs.
General Guidelines - Northtowns AcademyStudents need to be prepared for gym. That means: THEY MUST HAVE APPROPRIATE FOOTWEAR (SNEAKERS) ON THEIR FEET. Students may not take gym in socks, boots, bare feet, slippers, clogs, uggs, boat shoes, timberlands, etc.Students must participate in Physical Education at least 65% of the time classes are offered in their schedules.On occasion, students will be given written work that has to be done outside of their scheduled physical education classes. This work is to prep them for the end of your district generated post test that they are required to take as per NYS. All of the work is listed on this web page, under assignments. Please contact me if you have any questions.Students in Alternative Education are not graded on skill level. They are graded on participation.Students need to be willing to try a variety of sports and fitness activities.
