    COURSE DESCRIPTION:

     

    The Criminal Justice Program is intended for students interested in pursuing a career in the fields of Criminal Justice and/or security.  The course covers areas such as;
    • government
    • law enforcement
    • courts
    • corrections
    • security
    • forensics
    • numerous related topics

    Various Criminal Justice and security personnel from local agencies and businesses participate to make this program the best it can be.

     

    PURPOSE STATEMENT:

     

    The program has two purposes:
    1. To prepare students for post-secondary education in Criminal Justice or a related discipline.
    2. To prepare students for entry level work in the criminal justice and security fields.

     

    SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND BEHAVIORS THAT WILL BE DEVELOPED:

     

    1. Strong communication skills to include reading comprehension, writing and public speaking.

    2. Prepare for post-secondary education by developing skills in test taking research, project management as well as information and resource management.

    3. Develop professional and interpersonal skills to include ethical development, reasoning, problem solving and logic.

    4. Explore career skills and opportunities through guest speakers, field trips, internship experiences and projects.

    5. Acquire computer and technology skills applicable to the Criminal Justice field.

    6. Demonstrate a basic understanding in the Criminal Justice system, its components and related topics.

    7. Develop skills to manage one’s own health and wellness.
    8. All students leaving this program will have a Security Guard Certification and CPR Cards, making them employable immediately upon graduation.Security Officers
